A friend once told me:
There are two ways of disliking art.
One is to dislike it.
The other is to like it rationally.

so unbelievably true!
tell your friend i like his mind!:X
:)) :P
for example, there are some really good pictures i found on the internet...i mean, real works of art!:X....and I show some of them to this friend of mine...and she starts saying something like "omg, this is so great. the perspective is so unique...bla bla" and she starts to point out all the aspects of a professionally taken photo...and I started screaming in the back of my mind: "can u just stop now? please?!" yes, she was right in all that she said about the picture...but there was more, a lot more to it than that!
we were looking at the same picture, but we were seeing different things....the beauty i saw in that photo...was beyond my ability to describe it:)
the truth is...she kind of killed my enthusiasm with her analysis:))))

sometimes some art has to be viewed from a distance to be appreciated ..
sometimes u have to stand way back
sometimes u myt want to close ur eyes and view it with ur eyes wide shut
sometimes it jus hits and u dont know why and u dont how all u know is it touches deep down and u say its beautiful

Agree with you, but in due time some artist opened some things which were terrific and new exactly for their days. And to understand why they are so famous and famous for you should know historical period they appeared at least. It means you should..ye..understand them rationally.
But of course, if you are painter, or man who loves art, it may be nevermind.
Because all beauty will be feel deeply only by contemplation.

Hello. I think it depends of the way you appreciate art, with this I mean in what corner you're in; as a subjective viewer, you can use your own feelings to say if you like it or not and it'll be ok. When people analyse rationally that means they have more or less knowdlege of the matter so they're capable to go beyond, like oficial art critics and so, but actually they can only tell how good is the piece, book... talkin' about technic and style and that. One can agree or not cause even they don't agree with the rest of critics so final look is up to every one.

Hi! For me, art isn't a handicraft; it is a way to express one's feeling. Some of arts are abstract, some are realistic. I must say that every art lies beauty within, that we should appreciate it. Those arts are not only seen with paintings, but also with the delightful things that surround us! :)

I agree with Pauline. Art is a form of free self expression n there is nth to dislike about it.
