What are your thoughts on giving someone 'a chance' as far as dating them is concerned?

Once a guy had a thing for me and pursued me for some time. I did fall in love with him and it was very special because he was a really special guy.

But that was the only time in my life that the first impression theory didn't fit. But maybe it did fit, cuz I never really thought I would want to marry the guy and I didn't. So maybe the relationship was just a learning experience.

Anyway, how do you feel about giving chances? Should you, even if you're not interested at first, go out with a guy you're not really attracted to? What experiences have you had to back this up?

well my rule is if you mess up you get one more chance after that if you fu#%up again you are out of my VIP list you are now in the nobody list. as a relation ship well i do give chances and i have gotten chances but sometimes things arent meant to be. well all the relations ive been the girl is the one asking me out because im too shy to ask a girl out or yet alone try to talk to one. what can i do to not be so shy about it.i know it sound silly.

Not at all, J. Lots of shy guys out there. Would it help if you realized that the girl might feel shy too? And that even a tough exterior can just be a cover for insecurity?

And also would it help to know that the shy ones often turn out to be the best partners in the long run?

awwwwww thats cute J! dont be shy aye! you're a good guy, have a lot of good qualities about you :) im sure any girl with half a brain could see that and admire it, just be confident and ask! whats the worst that can happen? you get a no and not be with em??? lol well not asking you is resulting in you not being with em anyway right???? lol but yeh it is hard to over come being shy i have the same issue!

oh and to answer the Q lol sorry Maria i got distracted by J's answer haha, um ive never gone out with a guy who i havent been interested in. Well actually i did once go on a date with a guy coz everyone pretty much kept pushing me into it and i was on the rebound lol..... I TOLD HIM though that i had just got out of a relationship and i dont know if im interested in him or just liking the attention coz i just broke up lol so i warned him heaps of times but he kept insisting on trying it TOTAL DISASTER lol i told him i wasnt interested n he got all upset and nagged me for a yr n a half about it before i told him off......... and havent heard from him since :) lol but i dont know if that is the same thing????

well why not, you not going to lose anything if you give someone a second chance, because u know life is unpredictable, anything can happen. Sometimes people miss those moments and later regret it. So by not losing them, you wont feel regret later. I dunno never been in that situation thou lol.
